Destroying consumer society

The actual demise of consumer society might be far from now, but I wanted to make a small series of photographs on that concept. It has turned out quite literal. Reflecting on the photographs as a whole (just now) I think it might be better to focus on what you want rather than on what you don’t want. Something to do with negations not registering in people’s brains.
The damaged doll stands for the generic consumer, wearing the bling and wanting more, the hands reaching towards the fallen ring. But the doll has no power. Dust will inevitably cover our goods and our current society alike.
I enjoyed making these photographs. They are all focused meticulously using my new (second hand) Cambo Ultima D with Leaf Aptus 22 back tethered to my computer and lit with one flash and a host of modifiers (mirror, tracing paper, etc.). In that sense it was a big exercise in product photography.
🙂
