Famous Gispen chair photographed for a presentation by a student of interior design. She wanted to put the modern Gispen design in a different world, the world of a gipsy. We shot the Gispen chairs and another Gispen product (fridge magnets called ‘leaves’) in the home of a very kind elderly gentleman, with a distinct ‘gipsy’ style interior.
For the longest time I have been a fan of the simple elegant Gispen 1960’s couch, of which I sourced an image from the internet here. Never got to own it though, never seen one irl either. Maybe later.
Gispen is a Dutch design icon not for nothing. I’m surprised how well the red Gispen chairs hold up, even integrate, into the wild interior. Even though, arguably their furniture is more suited to a mid century modern environment, like the concrete box the Gispen couch was shot in.
